I was born and raised in Windsor, Virginia! A country girl at heart and I’m proud of that. I am also a “pirate” and proud to bleed purple!! I graduated from East Carolina University, located in Greenville, North Carolina, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management with a minor in Business Administration. After completing an internship in Las Vegas the summer before I graduated, I decided to take a leap and move across the country to the city of lights and the entertainment capital of the world. I must say, this chapter of my life has been, exciting, thrilling, challenging and has grown me if so many ways I could have never imagined. My family is my backbone…and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of them. Even though we are 2,500 miles apart, our love and support for each other continues to grow and reach across the states!
I contribute many of the positive skills and characteristics that I possess today, to the growth and development I received through pageantry, beginning at a young age. When I was just 5 years old, my momma came across a newspaper article advertising for a local pageant. From the time I could walk, I’ve always been a little ball of energy, loving every chance to perform and be on a stage! She decided to enter me and give this “pageant thing” a try. Well, there haven’t been many things in my life that I’ve tried and not enjoyed and been successful at, and pageants turned out not to be any different. Throughout my years of competing, I held several titles including Tiny Miss Suffolk 1990, Miss Isle of Wight County Fair 2000 and Miss Virginia American Teen 2001. As the youngest contestant, I placed 3rd runner up at the Miss Virginia Association of State Fairs pageant in 2001. I was also 4th runner-up at Miss Nevada USA 2009.
In 2009, I was inspired to start my own small business called Fit For The Crown! Since the age of 26, I have played a key role in leading and guiding young ladies and women through pageantry. With nearly 25 years of experience in the pageant industry (competing, judging, directing and producing), I have a true passion to prepare, inspire and empower women of all ages, to not only pursue their dreams, but to take action and accomplish them. Through one-on-one coaching sessions and leading by example, I promote community service, self-confidence, personal growth and development, which will lead to future success and accomplishments for the ladies that I work with. Interview skills, resume development, public speaking, health and beauty, personal marketing, poise and grace are just a few of the topics that I build on. I teach women skills that will not only prepare them for a pageant competition, but that will ultimately apply to their daily and career life as well. I have had the opportunity to work with nearly 100 women and children over the past 4 years, in which several have captured local and state pageant titles, as well as placed highly in national competitions. I’ve also received positive feedback from school teachers, mentors and parents regarding the growth, personal confidence and speaking skills of those that I have worked with. I have also helped to guide those looking to build on their own personal platforms and have witnessed the development of local, grass roots, non-profit organizations begin to flourish! What a blessing it has been to be welcomed into the lives of so many people, especially women, and to be part of their personal legacy.
Most recently, I founded the Miss Cupcake Pageant, for girls, ages 0-12 years of age. It is a natural pageant, intended for basic fundamental growth and fun for the entire family! I served as the Assistant Director and played a key role in the growth of the Mrs. Nevada-America & Nevada Princess Pageant from 2010-2013, as well as for the Miss Nevada Jr. High, High School and Collegiate America Pageant from 2011-2013.
“There is no greater service, than service to others.” (Socrates) Throughout my entire life, I have been active in many volunteer and charitable efforts. My gifts, skills and wisdom serve a purpose and are no good if not put to use! I played an integral role in the foundation and growth of Project Teddy, as well as served as Secretary of the Board for two years, raising over $30,000 to support and provide Teddy Bear workshops to children undergoing cancer treatment. Over the past several years, I have personally executed fundraising events to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure, NV, and was also able to work very closely with MADD Reno, NV to organize and lead the first MADD Victim Impact Panels in the Las Vegas and North Las Vegas municipal court system. I have served as a departmental Key Worker at the Suncoast for the past four years, responsible for distributing, collecting and encouraging employee contributions for United Way on behalf of Boyd Gaming Corporation. Fitness is a huge part of my life, so when I can combine that passion with charity, it produces double the reward! I enjoy participating in 5K runs and other fitness events to support various charities and causes to include: American Cancer Society, Candlelighters, Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, Wounded Warrior Foundation, 1Drop Water Preservation, and Children’s Heart Foundation, just to name a few.
